Drudge destroys Hillary to destroy Obama in November

In a clever ploy Matt Drudge seems to have shifted blame for a photograph of Obama in Somali dress to Hillary Clinton's campaign team. Reading the language on Drudge, he never actually suggest that it was leaked to him. ...

"Wouldn't we be seeing this on the cover of every magazine if it were HRC?" questioned one campaign staffer, in an email obtained by the DRUDGE REPORT.

Notice the word obtained - meaning he could have got hold of an email between any of HRC's campaign staff. This is a photo already in the public domain.

Obama's people treat this as a slur from Hillary.

But the point is, this is just a trap. Republicans like Drudge, and others in the Media, are setting up Obama to be the Democratic nominee in order that McCain wins in November. What worries me about Obama is his inability to take ANY criticism on the chin... any criticism seems to be turned into a race issue.

We already saw John Kerry, the Vietnam Vet, destroyed by Swift Boat Veterans for Truth in 2004. How can Obama stand that level of scrutiny?

Cameron Auschwitz 'gimmick' remarks

Labour party is calling for an apology from Cameron on remarks he has made today in a speech, where he said that Government support for trips to Auschwitz was a 'gimmick', one of many used by Brown.

"Trips to Auschwitz" was listed as one of 26 'gimmicks' in a briefing note from the Tory party accompanying Mr Cameron's speech in Bolton.

We recognised independence for Kosovo - why not do so now for Palestine?

We were so quick to recognise Kosovan independence, as was the USA. This despite the fact that it’s still has significant ‘issues’ with regards to Serbian towns within its territory.

Pakistan Election results - Islamists and Musharraf trounced

Very heartened how the elections went yesterday and even more so by the fact that the opposition parties have triumphed.

Whilst the reports rightly trumpet the success of Bhuttos's PPP and Sharif's PML(N) in the National Assembly elections, the untold story so is that the MMA (Islamic party) which ruled the North West Frontier with creeping Taleban legislation, has been trounced!

They have lost control of the Provincial Assembly to the Awami National Party (pashtun nationalist and secular) and PPP came in second.

The victory of democracy over fundamentalism at the ballot box is a great victory and shows the true secular spirit of the majority of Pakistanis. It shows why the radicals though will resort to assasination and intimidation to get their way.

At the National Assembly level, we have to hope that both the PPP of the late Bhutto and PML(N) of Nawaz Sharif can find an accomodation. PPP has yet to suggest a PM candidate - hopefully its not the Mr 10% Zaradari, Bhutto's widower, as that would be a step back.

There is still a long way to go for Pakistan, but this really is quite a milestone, albeit with much blood shed tragically along the way.

Terror Convictions Quashed

So the 'Bradford 5' are now free....
But how free are any of us, when mere thoughts of rebellion are considered enough to convict?

Nobel Peace Prize Goes to Al Gore

The Nobel Peace prize has just been awarded to Al Gore for his work on Climate Change.

Do you think this will further help the global warming movement, or will it be dismissed by the US right-wing global warming deniers as 'politicisation' of a scientific issue?

I sincerely hope that Al Gore sticks to this global issue and does not use this to enter the Presidential race now. He will have more influence on this now than he could hope to have as President.
